THE ROMANCE OF DON PERLIMPLIN WITH BELISSA IN HIS GARDEN

An elderly bachelor, Don Perlimplín, is persuaded by his servant Marcolfa that he should marry because she is getting too old and won't always take care of him. Don Perlimplín doubts but agrees to marry the younger Belissa, who accepts convinced by her ambitious mother. However, on their wedding night, Belissa betrays Perlimplin with other men. Upon learning about Belissa's deceit and instead of becoming jealous, Perlimplin argues that he had discovered the true meaning of love. Soon Belissa starts receiving letters from a mysterious stranger with whom she falls in love. Will she also finally learn what the true meaning of love is?
